Although Anaglyph 3D has been around for many years it is only since advancements in  HDTV technology that 3D has become a preferred viewing  method.

Newer model HDTV’s make it possible to display right & left eye images independently, when viewed through 3D Shutter Glasses / Active Glasses synced to each eyes display the wearer gets a very realistic illusion of 3 Dimensional action.

Active Shutter Glasses are simply clear LCD screens that can be blacked out in synchronization with the displayed images allowing vision from only one eye at a time.

What do you need for 3D Viewing

• 3D Source – 3d Blu ray player, Satellite or Cable 3d Subscription, 3D Gaming Device
• 3D Adapter – Internal or External to the TV (Converts input source to required 3D signal)
• 3D or 3D Ready HDTV – Only HDTV’s designed for 3D can display Shutter Technology 3D
• Signal Emitter – Transmits display sequence to glasses ( DLP – Not required)
• 3D Shutter Glasses / Active Glasses – DLP Link, IR, Bluetooth

Although most new 3D Hdtv’s are already equipped with Internal Adapters & Signal Emitters care must be taken when choosing 3d Blu Ray players & additional Active Shutter Glasses to ensure signal compatibility.

Starter Packs are available for most 3D ready HDTV’s that include Adapters, Emitters & Glasses, however DLP 3D can be viewed without an emitter through DLP Link Glasses like the Xpand 102 Glasses.

Home 3D Shutter Glasses v  Cinema Polarized Glasses

Surprisingly the 3D effects you can experience on your home HDTV using 3D shutter glasses are comparable if not better than the ones you have seen at the cinema!

Cinema 3D uses polarization either Linear (iMax 3d) or Circular (Real 3D) either type of polarization requires 2 images to be projected simultaneously then uses the glasses polarization to filter the images to either eye.

Home 3D HDTV on the other hand only projects 1 image at a time in full 1080p 3D. With the 3D Shutter Glasses blocking vision from the other eye there are no potential image overlaps & the 3D images are very clear and well defined.
